Watch this Aussie Bloke Get Clean Drinking Water From a Barren Salt Wasteland! [VIDEO]

Use the sun’s solar power to collect fresh water from vegetation and sea water.

One of the biggest challenges to any survival situation is getting enough clean water to keep you hydrated.  If you can’t get enough water, you won’t last long.

Remember the 3 rules of survival…

You can last:

  • 3 minutes without air
  • 3 days without water
  • 3 weeks without food

Check out how this down to earth Auzzie bloke gets water from a quickly built Solar Still or Evaporator.

How he does this:

He digs a hole in the ground and fill it halfway up with green vegetation and pour in a bucket of salt water over it. If you don’t have access to a bucket of salt water, water will do, even urine. In the centre he put a cup (this is the collection point for the water).  Next he uses a plastic sheet to place over the hole and use a bit of soil or a rock to hold it down in the centre.  This will then be over the cup.  In the morning you will find fresh, drinkable water!

Quick tip – do this first thing in the morning to get the most water through the day. Another tip would be to put a layer of plastic at the bottom of the hole to stop any moisture soaking into the ground.
